Roxie's Purpose

‘Travel. Travel the world. It will be the best thing you ever do’

Mum & Dad

Growing up in Cairns was always an adventure for Roxie and her family. School holidays always busy with camping trips, long weekends were always a good excuse to chase waterfalls and for all those gaps in-between there was another adventure waiting. Roxies parents travelled the world before deciding to settle down in Australia and call Cairns home. Growing up with parents that were not born in Australia made travel feel like it was something that had to be done. More than just an adventure, it became her purpose.

Roxie uprooted her life at age 19 to move to Byron Bay where she experienced what it feels like to freely swim in the open blue ocean, away and unafraid of stingers… and crocodiles. It didn’t take long for the small coastal town to feel like home, however, the thing that really drew Roxie in was the food. Being able to immerse herself in the local farmers markets, indulge in the seasonal produce and connect with the local fishmonger and butcher. It became a food network for Roxie, a food paradise, all appreciated by the small community alike.

Growing up with family who loved to cook, Roxie feels comfort in the kitchen and food, and it was Byron bay that really sparked her passion for not just food but the produce. Always cooking for friends and hosting dinner parties, for Roxie food is the centrepiece to creating and sharing beautiful moments and memories with one another. But her purpose was calling, her feet were itchy, and her tastebuds were craving something that only travel could satisfy. Japan, Vietnam and Bali to begin with. But Roxie was still hungry and really wanted to commit to a long-term foodie adventure. In 2017 she planned her travels around food festivals in Europe and began eating her way through Portugal, Spain, Italy, Holland and France, but this was just the beginning. Unable to finically support herself wining and dining all over Europe, Roxie took up a job as a stewardess on the Biggest privately-owned yacht in the world which gave her the opportunity to live in Barcelona for over 3 months and further her travels

After travelling and working all over Europe for well over a year Roxie decided to return home to Byron Bay, and it wasn’t too long after returning home that she and Mark met. A romantic story driven by food, but a story for another time. Being home for less than a year and having only known Mark for 4 months, they decided on a big food adventure together. Australia. Hunter. Gatherer. Chef. – combining their knowledge and love for food and adventure. It is a journey driven by love, passion and purpose.
